Spring has sprung!

Now that the weather is nice out we try to enjoy the sunshine as much as possible. Instead of staying in during developmental centers at the end of the day they also have the option to go out and play in the water table, draw with chalk, or blow and run in bubbles. We have also been enjoying story time and educational activities outside recently. Today we played a rhyming game version of "duck, duck, goose." The children are given a word to rhyme with and have to tap each friend while giving a rhyming word until they run out of rhymes. When they do they call out a random word and then have to chase each other around the circle.

Tracked out!!!

Look what Miss. Quinn did over track out! She brought back pictures from Busch gardens to share and teach students about zoo animals. We are going to begin making our favorite zoo animal that we've learned about next week. Pictures to come soon!

Wacky tacky day

Literacy week got out of control even for Miss. Quinn and Miss. Lena!! The kids enjoyed being able to laugh at their teacher and be goofy themselves. The competition between team cat and the hat and go dog go continued as students tried to earn more reading minutes for their team of choice!

Lunch bunch

Every Friday we do lunch bunch. Miss. Quinn keeps track of how well tables do following directions through out the week. The tables receive tallies on the "bravo" chart when they are working hard, are the first table to clean up, and working well together. The table with the most tallies by Friday gets to enjoy lunch in the classroom with the teacher. It's a special time for all!

Book character day

Literacy week was a week of celebrating Dr. Seuss and encouraging children to love reading. The week began with dressing as your favorite book character. Students were excited to pick out their books at the library and show off their costumes during the kindergarten parade. Even the kindergarten teachers participated in the parade as the coconut trees from chicka chicka boom boom.

Math centers

Students have been doing a great job with math centers. Here's a look at them through the year... We've been learning adding/subtracting, different ways to represent numbers, building shapes, and number sense.
