Holiday Celebration

We love Mrs. Parker and the friends in her class and had a great time with them for our holiday celebration. We decorated cookies, had special treats, made reindeer food, and did a gingerbread craft. A big thanks to Mrs. Parker for inviting us. We are going to miss her a lot in Kindergarten. Also, a big thanks to the parents that came to partake in the festivities. Happy Holidays everyone!!

Thankful themed centers!!

Thank you, thank you to the Mom's that came in to help out!! We had Thanksgiving centered activities. There was a center where students made bracelets that went along with a poem. Each color bead symbolizes something for Thanksgiving. There was a card making center. Student's wrote something they are thankful for and made thumbprint turkeys, counting how many of each color they needed, for the feathers. There was a count by tens turkey plate activity. The last activity encouraged students to use sight words to read a pilgrim story and listen to "T is for Turkey." I'm very thankful for every one of my students who bring a smile to my face daily and to all the support from home! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families.

Book buddies

My past fourth grade students from Mrs. Powells class are going to start coming in on Fridays to read to us. The kindergarteners really look up to the big kids and enjoy this time.

So much excitement!

Not only was today our pj day, Halloween, and pumpkin carving day...the firemen also came for fire safety month! The children loved seeing the big fire truck and the fireman all dressed up. Everyone got hugs to show that firemen aren't scary and learned what to do in the event of a fire. We got our very own fireman helmets and made a fire truck snack. The ingredients included; graham crackers(truck), ritz crackers(wheels), frosting, pretzels(ladder) and red candy (Siren/light).

Literacy Center Fun!!

During my literacy block, I begin with whole group instruction. We have been reviewing our letter sounds to a letter land song, "who let the letters out?" The kids love it and are really picking up on all the sounds. Students then break into their center groups and enjoy the five different stations. Shh they don't know they are learning!!
